In September 2025 San Portablo filmed our first advert.
It was Directed, Written and Produced by the San Portablo team
Morgan Woolcock, Nigel Thomas Hunt and Helen John.
The star of the advert was Reuben Thomas
who has just graduated as an actor from LAMDA.
...Sorted was Reuben's first job.
The advert is inspired by Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources
the classic French films
and the adaptaion of it by Stella Artois and Palace adverts.
San Portablo referenced the carnation flowers from the films
and used Verdi's beautiful 'La Forza del Destiono' for its authenticity.
We kept the filming of 'Sorted' real
by using 3 locations in Central Port Talbot
the San Portablo `Store in the Aberafan Shopping Centre,
the Flower Box on Forge Road
and Afan Ales and Fine Wines on Station Road.
All the actors and extras were our customers
Isabella Passalacqua, brothers Gerald and Peter Walker, its SDG - Sarah de Garnham,
and you know what
they bossed it, their energy on the shoot
transferred onto the big screen.
Abnormal Studios and Sky Cymru two young companies
hungry for opportunities assisted our team on the shoot
- Franklyn John, Finley Ready, Charlie and Mason Edwards,
their work ethic and end product
indicates they have a bright future in front of them.
The team was also fortunate to have other creators on board
Jenks Art props, Mark Ayre's Graphics, Paul Barritt animation. Nick Hinde's Typegraphy,
and sound from Gethin Woolcock were all bonus factors.
If the atmosphere on the set was electric
it certainly was once again in the Premier screening of "sorted"
and the Abnormal studios 'Behind the Scenes' Films
which took place in the San Portablo Arts space
in the Aberafan Shopping Centre,
The vibes were tip top, everyone was left inspired
for what is to come next.
Good News
All the films will be shown once again along with others
at the second San Portablo Film Festival in January 2026'.
If you have made films on know of anyone that wants their films screened
why not getting touch with the team here.
Hope you enjoy the advert
its the first
but it wont be the last
San Portablo belongs on the big screen..
